Swim Club Dives in the Top 20 Countdown “What You Want” Makes a Splash

Swim Club will premier on the Top 20 countdown www.whoa100.com tonight at 7 pm. EST followed by a live interview on Monday February 20th at 9:10 am. EST. There catchy new single “What You Want” is making a splash all over.

Funhouse For Fiends, the sophomore EP from New York’s Swimclub continues their exploration of American outsider pop. From nuggets inspired 60’s rock to indie pop balladry of the 80’s and 90’s the band links it all seamlessly on one disc. Funhouse For Fiends provides songwriters Greg Adams (guitar) and Gene Davenport (bass) the opportunity to play off each other as well, with alternating stories that lure the listener into a world that is at times melancholy but also hopeful and slyly comical.

Moving on from the stripped down 60’s and 70’s garage rock and lo fi production of their eponymous debut, the new EP’s polished yet bristling pop evokes the soundtrack to some alternate universe prom from which everyone goes home alone. Greg Adams and Gene Davenport put their Manhattan office temp careers aside to form the group in 2007. “As soon as I found out Greg had been licensing his songs to documentaries I told him ‘you can’t waste this stuff on PBS, we gotta play some shows!’” says bassist Gene Davenport. Adams and Davenport grew up in Clifton Park, New York but reconnected years later at a Brooklyn club. “Somebody kept bumping into me at a Spoon show. I finally turned around and Gene was standing there grinning.” says Adams. “popilicious with a little bit of a Chromeo/70s kickback sound” -
