Remember the good ol’ days when the only items you received in the mail were fun things like birthday cards, gifts from relatives, or the latest Rolling Stone? Whether you’re in college or living the post grad life you can still find fun things in your mailbox.
Ned Corbett-Winder, an art director at M&C Saatchi in London, took that idea to the next level and started Not Another Bill, a company premised around the idea of a fruit-of-the-month club, but instead of fruit you get an envelope filled with surprise presents including everything from limited-edition prints to rubber stamps and jewelry.
The presents are from Corbett-Winder’s favorite up and coming designers, brands, and illustrators. Corbett-Winder personally stuffs, seals, and sends the packages himself. There are a variety of subscription options including one-, three-, and six-month options. Find more info and sign up here.
If you’re looking for something a little more casual to receive in the mail consider Postcrossing, a website that allows people from all over the world to exchange postcards. The project was started by Paulo Magalhaes from Portugal as a side project while he was a student. Paulo knew more people shared his same interest of receiving mail and postcards from friends and family, but there was no good way yet to connect them across the planet.
The goal of Postcrossing is to connect people across the world through postcards, independent of their location, age, gender, race or beliefs. It’s a great way to experience other cultures by just opening up your mailbox and can brighten up your day when you receive nothing else but bills in the mail.
